"A brand for a company is like a reputation for a person. You earn a reputation by trying to do hard things well." - Jeff Bezos
Now, please don't ask who Jeff Bezos is. But what he said is useful also for YouTubers. Brand building is really really important in running a YouTube channel. You must need, consistency throughout your all social media and content. In this article, I will tell you why building consistent branding is so important in YouTube and how you can do it.
Why is consistent Branding Important in YouTube?
Creating a Memorable Identity:
The same name and theme everywhere can create an identity. If people start remembering your name and if they like your content, you will start getting more views through the search feature. And that can push your channel’s overall performance by pushing further in the algorithm.
Consistency represents professionalism:
Here, I am not referring to the consistency of work. Regularity is one thing, brand consistency is another. Brand consistency includes similarity in graphic design. The viewers may find your videos more appealing and trustworthy as a result of the consistent visuals throughout all of your videos, your YouTube channel art/banner, logo, and other content.
It can help you stand out:
In this highly competitive market, well-branded channels are just a few. People just start their channels without spending enough time designing their brands. You can take advantage of this lacking. By building a consistent brand, your channel may look way more professional and unique than others.
What to do?
You can do the following 3 things to create consistency in your brand.
The Name: The name of your brand must be similar throughout everything including your YouTube channel name, all of your social media handles, URLs, and domain (only if required in your case). So it is really important that you look for the availability of the names on various platforms. Instead of checking it on different platforms one by one, you can directly use the following tools (If they are still working): For checking social media handles availability you can use: https://www.namecheckr.com/ For checking domain availability you can use: https://domains.google.com/registrar/search These are just suggestions. If any of them has stopped working (It's almost impossible that the second link stops working 😂), look for other similar tools. There are tons of them.
Color combination: Use the colors from your Logo. Do not use different colors everywhere. The color combination is also a part of your brand. Learn more about how color impacts graphic design and how to use them.
Font style: It is highly recommended to use as less font styles as possible. If you stick with just one font style, Great. But if you think you have to use one more for a specific component, you can go for it. But keep this in mind: the font style to your brand is similar to what personality is to a person.
And last but not least, Way of presentation: The way you present your content is also a part of your brand. You should first design a theme for the way you are going to present. It can be a speaking style, type of humor, or video editing. But a unique and consistent way of presentation works as a signature.
