Updated: Aug 4, 2023

I crossed the 100K subscribers milestone for the first time in my life. And this happened 👇

My YouTube channel suspended due to violation of community guidelines. In actual I did not do anything that violates the community guidelines. The channel was hacked. This is how you secure your YouTube channel from hackers
YouTube account suspended

It felt heart-wrenching. The feeling was unbearable. After a quick research, I got to know that, it got hacked. The hacker upload adult content to my channel, and it so it was suspended.

After almost 6 months of struggle, we proved that it wasn’t us who did it, it was hacked. And we retrieved it back successfully. It was the moment I when decided I will make sure this does not happen again. And in this article, I will give away my secrete to make sure your channel stays secure from hackers.

As soon as I got my account back, I called an urgent meeting with my team and instructed them to come up with as many things as we can to make sure our channel does not get hacked again. Here is the list we prepared.

Most of the items from that list are essential but not enough, except the last one:

  1. Change all the passwords and make them complicated. (We did this, but the hacker did not hack our channel using the password. Because it already was complex to hack.)

  2. Enable 2-step verification. (It was already done, even before it was hacked.)

  3. Give access to the channel to as less people as possible. (The access to that channel was not given to any other account.)

  4. The above points were proven to be breakable by the hackers in my case. But I believe that this fourth point was a genius idea from my team that you can also implement and make sure that your channel stays secure. This is how to secure your YouTube channel from hackers:👇

What is the first thing the hackers need to hack your account? Yes, you guessed it right. Your account ID.

Now we know where the hacker's dependency lie. Then make sure you do not give the hackers what they want. Your email id should not go to the hacker.

Now some of you would be thinking that email ID is an essential part of your YouTube business. How can it be not shared with your audience? Who told you you can make a channel only from your official email id?

Assume that your YouTube channel's name is Random ABC XYZ. And your official email ID which you use to share with your audience is randomxyzabc@gmail.com (this is just an example), your channel should not be owned by the same email id. And if it already is, you can easily transfer your channel from one email id to another.

The email ID which is the owner of your channel should not be shared with anyone. It must be a secret account and should be given access to as less people as possible.
