Synopsis of atomic habits for YouTubers

Atomic Habits is one of the best books I have ever read in my life. This book is not directly teaching any of the skills that you need for video editing, cinematography, or SEO. But what it teaches you is far more important than all of the other skills. It teaches you how to be consistent. In this article, I will give you 3 key points synopsis of atomic habits that you should not miss at all. Let's not waste my energy and your time on build-up.

3-point synopsis of Atomic Habits

Point 1# Successful people are never perfect.

What is the biggest difference between a loser and a winner?

Why do you think most people fail in their study plan, exercise plan, and wake-up plan?

Most people always look for a plan which works perfectly. Whenever they just break the chain of habit, they just get disappointed. The first thing that comes to their mind is "This plan does not work."

When a winner knows that there is no such thing as perfect consistency or a perfect plan. Before starting the execution, the winner just accepts that there will be days of procrastination, days of slacking off, and days of laziness. But the more important thing is getting back on track after missing a day or two. Stop losing the benefit of the imperfect plan in search of a perfect one.

Point 2# The goal is not enough.

From our very childhood, we have been taught that we must focus on our goals. I do not disagree with it entirely. The goal is important. But up to what extent? What is the real purpose of it?

Goals serve only one purpose in our life: setting the direction right. By setting a goal, you can just be aware of what you are going towards. But just keep focusing on the goal does not give you any real progress. And those who just focus on the goal and not the actions always disappoint.

So from now onwards: your focus must be on what it takes to achieve the goal, not on your goal.

  • Your focus should NOT be on being a successful YouTuber, it should be on making good videos.

  • Your focus should NOT be on increasing watch time, it should be on making engaging videos.

  • Your focus should NOT be on increasing CTR, it should be on making attractive thumbnails.

Now focusing on the right things brings me to the third point.

Point 3# Who do you want to be?

This question might make you feel nostalgic: "What do you want to be when you grow up?". And our questions used to be one of these: doctor, engineer, pilot, scientist, lawyer, etc. Now in our case, the answer to this question would be A YouTuber. This question points directly to your goal. But now since we learned that our focus must be on our actions rather than the goal, why don't we change our perspective on this question too?

So from now onwards if someone asks you, "What do you want to be?", you will answer:

  • A person who makes good videos,

  • A person who works regularly on content creation,

  • A person who always tries to be creative,

  • a person who learns

You got the point.
